Ilona, you should still be my vampire attendant You’re foxy and you know it Ilona, you should still be my vampire attendant You’re foxy and you know it Ilona, I may be the Countess, but I count this As one death I’d take back this moment For four hundred years we dined on the living We wore gothic tunics, we were European, Occidental oh! Ilona, you should still be my vampire attendant You’re foxy and you know it Ilona, you should still be my vampire attendant You’re foxy and you know it Ilona, you might think I’m heartless and callous and thoughtless For all that you’ve witnessed These are lurid times, for sure, and our youth demands much more than The common girls in town can offer - we are different, we have breeding Ilona, you should still be my vampire attendant You’re foxy and you know it Ilona, you should still be my vampire attendant You’re foxy and you know it Ilona I’m sorry I left you to die In some offseason hotel Was it Belgium? Was if France? Oh, who can tell? You were naked in the shower and there was blood everywhere Oh Ilona Ilona, you should still be my vampire attendant You’re foxy and you know it Ilona, you should still be my vampire attendant You’re foxy and you know it Rawk!

about

Virgin of the Birds treads a line between intimate, lo fi folk and the occasional grandeur of early art rock. Briefly based in Austin, TX before settling in Seattle, WA, Virgin of the Birds was born in the mid-00′s as an outlet for Jon Rooney’s songs outside of Morning Spy, a now-slumbering indie pop/rock band he formed in San Francisco, CA. In 2009, Virgin of the Birds began releasing a series of free, download-only EPs entirely written, recorded, mixed and mastered at home. MIDI was liberally employed.

“It has a kind of determined purpose to its underlying sadness, as if it may be down but it’s not beaten. I’d almost say that there was something quite definite and certain about the tone of the music, actually. I really hope there’s more where this came from.” – Song, By Toad

“Rooney’s strength on these releases lies in his captive storytelling and subtle instrumentation.” - Beat the Indie Drum
